Kirin 1000 will be 50% more powerful than Kirin 990

The next flagship mobile processor of the Chinese company Huawei will be called Kirin 1000. It will be produced by the facilities of the Taiwanese giant TSMC using 5-nanometer technology. The debut will take place in models of the Huawei Mate 40 family.

As it became known, Huawei will officially present the Kirin 1000 single-chip system at the conference, which will be held in less than a month, on September 5. The single-chip system goes by the code name Baltimore. According to preliminary information, the mobile processor will receive Cortex-A78 cores and a fast graphics accelerator.

In terms of power, the platform is expected to be about the same level as the Apple A14, the chip that will make its debut in the iPhone 12 lineup. In comparison with Kirin 990, performance will increase by one and a half times. The company intends to ship more than 15 million mobile processors before the launch of Huawei Mate 40 smartphones, so there should be no problems with the shortage.
